Proofreading
Far too often I turn in assignments the minute I'm done with them instead of proofreading it. Without a doubt this has hurt my grade, and it's been a horrible habit to fall into; always read over your writing. This will make the difference in a paper being an A or a B, and could save you in many other ways.
With job applications and emailing bosses, it's important to maintain a certain level of professionalism. If there was four misspelled words in your application, that firm isn't going to think highly of your chances of being hired are little to none. Once in the working scene, you need to keep that professionalism because it's a business; slang has no use in the corporate world or anywhere on the job for that matter.
Always read over your work.
