Career Dreams
So many students these days change their majors because they're worried about how much they make or the demand for it. Understandable, we all want to have security and the comfort of knowing we can later support ourselves and the lifestyle that comes with it. However, I've seen so many adults hate what they're doing, only to stay in that career so they can pay their bills. No thanks, that's not the route I want to take, your career shouldn't feel like 'work.'
Ever since I was eight years old, I have been obsessed with sports. While I was younger stats were super important to me, once taking a journal and writing down players' receptions, touchdowns, yards, etc. Some family members have given me grief over wanting to major in journalism and hopefully, one day become an analyst at ESPN; but that doesn't phase me. If I quit on myself and chased another major because of pay, a part of me would feel dead inside. If I fail while chasing a dream, it'll mean much more to me than deviating from it to chase another path that makes more money.
